Victoria Flower Count 2020

Are you ready for the 2020 Victoria Flower Count?

The 2020 Victoria Flower Count will be the 45th iteration of the event and  takes place March 4 to 11, across the greater Victoria area on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Which municipality will become the “Bloomingest Community” this time around?

Each municipality across Greater Victoria is encouraged to take up the challenge. People reporting flower counts will have their number attributed to their community. Whether they live on the Saanich Peninsula or in Sooke, every flower counts, for their own community and for the overall total.

The City of Colwood has claimed the title the last five years running, 2014 to 2018, but last year, the City of Victoria, with 19,948,306,872 blooms counted, reclaimed its traditional mantle.

Students and schools are also major part of this counting effort and the the winning Grade 4 or 5 class will receive a trip the The Butchart Gardens!

Results are recorded daily on the 2020 Victoria Flower Count website. Final tallies are released to media outlets across North America to show spring arrives in Victoria, BC first!

Go to flowercount.ca to add your count between March 4th to 11th, 2020.

The light-hearted event brings national and international attention to the fact that Victoria, also known as the city of Gardens, has the mildest climate in Canada. Even now the blooms are turning the greater Victoria area pink!
