Developed by the creators of the Chilliwack Tulip Festival, this unique experience opens late August 2019 and runs to mid-September 2019 — exact dates to be confirmed closer to the event. The Sunflower Festival showcases more than five acres of 17 varieties of sunflowers, from two-foot Dwarf Sunspots to 12-foot Mammoth Grey Stripes, in varying shades of yellow, orange, and red surrounded by the farm fields and natural outdoor setting of the Fraser Valley, in Chilliwack, BC. Corn and hops fields abound, the perfect outing to immerse yourself in peak-season sunflowers. You can pick your own Sunrich Orange sunflowers to take home from the festival or even pick up cut sunflowers and field flowers, sunflower-inspired gifts. On-site-grown tulip and daffodil bulbs are also available for purchase.
The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival provides countless opportunities to take perfect keepsake photos and videos. Throughout the grounds, find swing sets, an operational windmill, a vintage bicycle, and several more photo-ops & selfie-spots. Plus, weekends include the added attraction of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser train, which offers by-donation rides through the fields. Guests will also love the many outdoor lawn games taking place: Yardzee; bolaball; “giant” Jenga, tic-tac-toe, and checkers; and more. Afterward, retreat from the late-summer sun and enjoy cold drinks and ice cream in a special covered area. Local food trucks will be on site each weekend. On-leash pets are welcome; a drinking area and complimentary pick-up bags will be available.
“Tulips of the Valley has offered hundreds of thousands of visitors a unique, family-friendly experience over the past 13 years”, says festival co-founder Kate Onos-Gilbert in a recent interview. She said her family really looks forward to creating a new tradition with the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival. “This is one of the best opportunities in the region to get up-close to nature and truly unwind, while experiencing an authentic Fraser Valley farm amidst a sea of yellow sunflowers.”
Visitors can take some of the tulip magic home with them from the tulip and sunflower shop, where they will be selling fresh cut flowers, potted plants, postcards and more!
