On April 13, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden was the proud winner of the title ‘Canadian Garden Tourism Garden of the Year 2012‘ awarded by Canadian Garden Tourism Council, in consultation with a Canadian and international jury network. The Garden was awarded for providing a world-class garden experience as well as a significant cultural heritage to local and international visitors. The Council also acknowledged the Garden’s title of “World’s Top City Garden”, recently named by National Geographic.

The Garden’s Executive Director Kathy Gibler gratefully accepted the Award. Gibler said “We are so honored to be recognized in our own country as one of the top garden and cultural attractions. We are very touched to see that our efforts are enhancing our visitors’ experience and promoting Vancouver to the world.”

The award was presented at the Annual Canadian and International Garden Tourism Awards Luncheon, sponsored by VIA Rail Canada and hosted by VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Garden Tourism Awards are presented to organizations and individuals who have distinguished themselves in the development and promotion of the garden experience as a tourism attraction.
